Day 1 Welcome to Beijing
Upon arrival at Beijing International Airport, you will be met by a CITS professional English-speaking guide and escorted to your hotel before spending the remainder of the day on your own.
Day 2 Forbidden City
Visit Tian’anmen Square, which is considered the center of Beijing and symbol of China. Pass through the Gate of Heavenly Peace into the Forbidden City. Experience an authentic glimpse of imperial life of ancient China. Tour the Summer Palace, once a retreat for the Forbidden City emperors.
Day 3 Great Wall of China
Today, explore the Great Wall of China, finished in 210 BC and running for thousands of miles. Stroll along the awesome stone animal-lined Sacred Way, then visit the Imperial Ming Tombs-Changling, burial site of the Ming Dynasty’s royalty.
Day 4 Temple of Heaven / Peking duck night
Start your day with Tai Chi exercise with local people at the 15th-century Temple of Heaven, one of China’s best examples of traditional architecture. Explore Museum of China Ancient Architecture & History of Beijing, which preserves traditional culture, spreads scientific knowledge and develops culture exchange. Enjoy a Hutong excursion by trishaw with a very different look at daily life of old Beijing, stopping for tea at a local family. Join us tonight for a Peking duck dinner and cultural show.
Day 5 Flight to Xi’an
Fly to Xi’an, the ancient seat of power for thousands of years and the eastern end of the Silk Road. Visit Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a holy place for Buddhists. Tour the ProvincialHistoryMuseum before dinner.
Day 6 Terra Cotta Warriors
Discover the Terra Cotta Warriors today. An army of thousands of life sized warriors and their horses in battle formation, which were buried for 2000 years, stand guard over the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi-Huang, the first Chinese emperor. Enjoy a dumpling dinner and an evening performance of Tang Dynasty show.
Day 7 Flight to Shanghai
Fly to Shanghai – Paris of the East, one of China’s most cosmopolitan cities. Enjoy time at leisure.
Day 8 Shanghai sights, acrobat nights
Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Shanghai today. Stroll along Nanjing Road and view the Bund, a riverside promenade with grand colonial buildings. Then explore the classical YuyuanGarden, a classic Chinese garden with traditional red walls, upturned tiles roofs and beautiful pavilions. Then discover the JadeBuddhaTemple, famous for its two Buddha statues made of white jade. Visit a carpet factory to learn how silk is collected and woven to make carpet. See a spellbinding performance by the world-renowned Shanghai Acrobat Troup in the evening.
Day 9 Water-town Zhu Jia Jiao
Travel adventure explores Zhu Jia Jiao this morning; observe its well-preserved Ming and Qing architectures, centuries-old stone bridges and willow-lined streets. Tour the most impressive ShanghaiMuseum.
Day 10 Bound for home
Your extraordinary China travel adventure ends in Shanghai, where you will catch your return flight home. A CITS guide will meet you at hotel and escort you to ShanghaiPudongInternationalAirport; you should allow 2 hours for flight check-in.
